This camshaft will fit without flycutting!
This 217 intake duration camshaft is BTR's largest offering for an L83 with unmilled cylinder heads and is a great choice for the larger L86 engines as well. With just simple bolt-ons this grind has made well over 500hp in a stock bottom end L83 application. It's truly a marvel in its ability to perform well in such a mild application. By continuing to utilize the factory VVT system, BTR's engineers were able to set the valve events for stump pulling torque down low while providing EXPLOSIVE top end power. The end user truly has the best of both worlds.
This unit is the culmination of extensive Spintron testing, coupled with thorough vetting on BTR's Superflow Engine Dynamometer. Countless hours have been spent designing some of the most stable, powerful lobes in the industry. All this translates into better longevity, less valve train wear and tear, and more power.
To take advantage of this grind, it is imperative to utilize VVT control when tuning. A proper calibration in this respect will make this camshaft SHINE! All BTR Gen V camshafts come with VVT Target Angle table specs on the cam card, making it easy to quickly dial in the VVT function for the best powerband possible.
NOTE: The Stage 4 Truck Camshaft requires a DOD/AFM lifter delete, and a 4* VVT Phaser limiter block is necessary to maintain proper piston to valve clearance.
Our kit options eliminate guesswork when choosing components for your installation:
- Camshaft Only: Includes only the BTR Gen V Stage 4 Truck Camshaft by itself. (Please remember, a valve spring upgrade and a phaser limiter are necessary for installation.)
- Camshaft with Spring Kit: Includes BTR Gen V Stage 4 Truck Camshaft, plus BTR SK007 Dual .660" Spring kit with Titanium retainers, Valve Seals and Locks.
- Pushrod Upgrade: Highly recommended when installing an aftermarket camshaft and springs. Our Gen V pushrod kit includes beefy 3/8" diameter, 7.850" long chromoly pushrods (brand may vary based on availability).
- Phaser Limiter Option: Includes a 4* BTR Phaser limiter block (recommended size for the BTR Gen V Stage 4 Truck camshaft). We have made this option for people who already have a tool from previous camshaft installations.
- Phaser Limiter with Tool Kit Option: Includes 4* BTR Phaser Limiter block, plus the necessary tool kit required to install the phaser limiter.
